University of Phoenix Commits Fraud against American Veterans!

University of Phoenix doesn't care about veterans

  • There are approximately 400,000 American veterans that attend the University of Phoenix (UOP).
  • In August 2011, a law signed by President Obama was enforced and veterans no longer receive "break pay" for days that they are not "enrolled" in school.
  • Now, veterans that use their GI Bill at University of Phoenix are not getting their Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) for the days they are actually enrolled in class. When University of Phoenix reports "enrollment" days as required on the legal form 22-9999 to Veterans Affairs, they report it incorrectly. Under the "Enroll Begin" date they actually put the "attendance" dates on the form. They report the first night a veteran shows up to class; this is really the last night of the first week of class.
  • This deliberate misrepresentation of facts has been the subject of numerous complaints from military veterans and UOP has done nothing to correct it. They commonly say things like, "this is the way it is", "things are not going to change", or they attempt to shift blame to Veterans Affairs. Misreporting the actual "enrollment date" which starts 6 days before the first night of "attending" class occurs, causes United States veterans to lose out on approximately $240.00 or more of their Basic Allowance for Housing per month. This practice adds up to approximately $96 million dollars per month.
  • In our economy we need every penny that we earn. We as veterans have fearlessly put our lives on the line to serve our country and we should get the benefits we deserve.
  • The first course of action is to submit our petition to University of Phoenix to request that they change their reporting procedures and to correct their previous errors.
